What is Vitalist Herbalism?

Since the beginning of human existence, herbs have been used to help heal wounds, stanch blood, and treat common ailments.  Herbs were used for basic health concerns, because the only health concerns within the ancient peoples were basic. With the rise of poor eating habits, people moving into cities and away from their natural habitat in nature, and with modern stresses came all of the diseases that we see today: allergies, depression, cancer, organ failure, obesity, diabetes, endocrine disruption, skin conditions, chronic pain, etc..

Vitalist herbalism is the type of health care that allows the client to take their health into their own hands. The approach is simple, change the way you live to reflect a closer resemblance to those of our ancestors and see healing. With vitalist herbalism we focus on nutrition as a core principle to promoting the best health, life style changes that support more peace, time in nature, and getting into a natural rhythm focusing on creating daily habits. Herbs then support the lifestyle changes.

What are the similarities between allopathic medicine and herbalism?

The properties in plants that produce a healing effects are in their constituents. These constituents are the basic building blocks of our modern drugs and though pharmaceuticals have a place in our health system today, pharmaceutical drugs often don't help people heal. They mask the symptom, or stall a disease.  You guessed it, if someone also just takes herbs to mask a symptom, herbs won't help you heal either.  Ironically, taking drugs or herbs in this manor will actually drive the disease deeper into the body causing more concern in the long run.

The difference between pharmaceuticals and herbs.

Herbs are our allies and ask not to be used like allopathic pharmaceutical drugs. Instead of taking a pill to mask a symptom, herbs are to be used along side making life style changes to see improvement of health. Thus, an evolution of health may actually be achieved, as well as with the support of a doctor.
